Well to better explain this in context. The martial art I practice is more of a philosophy applied in motion and body expression. I take Jeet Kune Do, but personally once you dig deep into the philosophy of the art, there is no more name to classify it. It's just expression and development to help one progress and evolve themselves consciously and esoterically. Of course I do know how to apply a lot of the tools as far as the simplified wing chun (sticky hands) and the simplified kickboxing, western boxing, and fencing/footwork in combat, but really it leads to being able to fight all of your battles in your head instead of externally. I've been taking this art for about 3 years with a 3rd generation instructor. My instructor trained under Jerry Poteet who was a student of Bruce Lee and is one of the very few who actually understands the art for what it is and how it's actually applied without drifting away from the fundamentals. There are no belts in this art nor any specific uniform and best of all no limitations XD.
